Sports played with spheres are easier to master than rectangular sports, such as Rubik's cubing and throwing bricks into windows. Circle fun with today's Groupon for a college-sports ticket package at the University of South Alabama. The package includes:
• Two reserved-seating football tickets to see the University of South Alabama vs. Lamar University at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on September 10 (a $30 value)
• Four upper-bowl tickets to see one men's basketball game of your choice during the upcoming 2011–2012 season at the Mitchell Center (a $20 value)
The University of South Alabama Jaguars mark the arrival of fall with the sounds of whistles and cheering crowds as pigskins and basketballs sail through the air. A fledgling outfit, the football program continues to build on its debut 2009 season by hosting Lamar University in the Hall of Fame Game that pits linebackers against quarterbacks and springy turf against the ravages of pitiless cleats. The 40,000-seat Ladd-Peebles Stadium plops two fans along the sideline with single-game reserved seating in sections A, B, I, J, K, L, M, S, or R.
For indoor action, the Sun Belt Conference–tested basketball program entrusts big man Augustine Rubit to protect its home court and expand on a 117-46 record in 11 seasons of play at the Mitchell Center. With more than 10,000 seats, the stadium places four friends in the upper-bowl seating to peer down on the action and measure the speed of high-rising dunks with travel-size accelerometers. The men's basketball program hasn't finished scheduling its opponents for the 2011 season, so check the site schedule for updates.
Everyone aged 2 and older must have a ticket to enter the Mitchell Center. Any child younger than 2 must sit in the lap of a parent or guardian and may not occupy a seat.
