The Scouting Report
After last year’s 18–14 season ended with a heartbreaking overtime loss in the Southland Conference Tournament, the Roadrunners men’s basketball team is looking to bounce back, led by seventh-year head coach Brooks Thompson. An Honorable Mention All-Conference player last season, senior guard Kannon Burrage has averaged 18.3 points per game through the season’s first nine contests. In her 13th season as head coach for the Roadrunners women’s squad, three-time Southland Conference Coach of the Year Rae Rippetoe-Blair has her team off to a 6–4 start this year. The backcourt tandem of senior Simone Young and sophomore Kamra King sets an aggressive offensive tone, calling plays without the use of naval flag codes while handling the ball and combining for 20 points a game.
