What You'll Get
Although the ancient Greeks invented television, they quickly returned to live theater after discovering there was nothing on but reruns of Xena: Warrior Princess. Partake in the first form of entertainment with today’s deal: for $10, you get one reserved ticket to The University of Toledo’s Department of Theatre & Film’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Valentine Theatre on Saturday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m. (a $20 value). Premium reserved seating is assigned upon reservation and is located in the box seating area and on the main floor beyond the first three rows.
The students of the University of Toledo’s Department of Theatre & Film practice their creativity and hone their talent during a full season of winning productions. November blossoms with time-honored whimsy and fields of Pixy Stix as director and Assistant Professor of Theatre Cornel Gabara brings Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream to the lovingly restored 116-year-old Valentine Theatre. Following several plot threads, including the supernaturally altered infatuations of two young couples and the antics of a clownish troupe of actors, A Midsummer Night’s Dream deftly mixes fantasy and sidesplitting comedy into a mélange that tickles funny bones and ousts any were-hyenas sitting in the audience. Fairies, love spells, and mistaken identities keep plots rolling merrily along before all is resolved in jubilant fashion.
