The Scouting Report
With the arrival of September 2015, just as with more than 120 Septembers before it, the Northwestern Wildcats kick off another season as original members of the Big Ten Conference. This year, head coach Pat Fitzgerald and his boys look to build upon last year’s positive notes. Trademark victories over Notre Dame and Wisconsin showed that safety Godwin Igwebuike, receiver Christian Jones, and all the other returning starters have what it takes to beat top-caliber teams, even the ones with white rhinos installed at nose tackle. Recently-named QB Clayton Thorson and sophomore running back Justin Jackson—plus a healthy crop of four-star recruits—fill out the ranks, all of whom will be key to putting together a winning season. Early games against Eastern Illinois and Ball State are should-wins for the ‘Cats as they gear up for a season filled with exciting matchups.
