2016 Volvo Car Open
In early April, more than 70 world-class athletes and nearly 100,000 fans will descend upon Daniel Island for the 44th Volvo Car Open. The tournament is packed with stars. In fact, at least five previous champions of this tournament—Venus Williams, Jelena Jankovic, Sabine Lisicki, Samantha Stosur, Andrea Petkovic, and current reigning champ Angelique Kerber—are all set to return and battle once again for the crown. These established stars will face a challenge from tennis’s next generation of elites, including 21-year-old Genie Bouchard and 22-year-old Sloane Stephens.
Squeezed in between net-hugging volleys, supersonic aces, and the synchronized head movements of the audience, special activities amplify the week’s festive atmosphere. Nightly happenings include themed events, interactive games, happy-hour specials, and live music.
