As their 15th year in the WNBA heads into its final weeks, the Washington Mystics face off against three rivals under the leadership of Maryland alum Crystal Langhorne. After attaining the league’s fourth-best scoring average in 2011 with 18.2 points per game, Langhorne anchors a squad that includes forward Monique Currie.

Composed of kids aged 7–13, the Mystics Mayhem dance team entertains crowds each game, along with Lucky the Rabbit and Pax the Panda, whose anthropomorphic high jinks surpass even Sonic the Hedgehog’s attempt to break the sound barrier in Chuck Taylor high-tops.

Washington Mystics

As one of the WNBA's first expansion teams, the Washington Mystics first took their athletic wizardry to the court in 1998. Since then, the team has made six playoff appearances, beating out plenty of other teams that were too timid to play with a crystal basketball. The Mystics follow the direction of head coach Mike Thibault, the winningest active coach in the league and the second all-time coach to reach 200 wins.
