Waste Management Phoenix Open
The Waste Management Phoenix Open has long been one of the best-attended golf tournaments in the world, and it’s only getting more popular. In 2014, it broke attendance records as more than 560,000 fans filed into TPC Scottsdale—and did it again in 2015. A glance at the tournament’s field suggests that this year will be no different.
Headlining 2016’s lineup are a dozen top-ranked professionals, including Bubba Watson (no. 4), Rickie Fowler (no. 6), Phil Mickelson (no. 34), and five of the tournament’s past champions. All told, the field of 132 players will battle for a $6.5 million in prize money, with the winner taking home $1.17 million of that purse in his choice of either a giant check or a giant sack of pennies.
