About Waterloo Black Hawks Hockey
The Waterloo Black Hawks broke into the USHL as a semi-pro team in 1962, and by 1968, they'd already won five championships. So they did what any successful team would do—they demonstrated their skill by taking on the U.S. Olympic teams in 1964, 1968, 1972, and 1976.
Today, the Black Hawks still compete with that level of gusto, and they still compete as part of the USHL, which has since become an all-juniors league. In fact, in 2002, the USHL became the nation's only Tier I junior circuit, meaning it attracts top college-bound players from around the country. And the Black Hawks have been a shining example of the league's prosperity: more than 30 of the team's players have been picked up by NHL organizations since 2003.
