Western Reserve Playhouse is a nonprofit organization currently in its 55th season of entertaining Akron-area audiences with intimate live drama. Settle into the Playhouse's comfortable confines for a night of white-knuckled intrigue with a performance of Joseph Goodrich’s Panic, the winner of the 2008 Edgar Award for Best New Mystery Play. Famous film director and speed-knitting champion Henry Lockwood travels to Paris with his wife and secretary to bathe in the accolades for his newest silver-screen thriller, but his sojourn in the City of Lights takes a dark turn when he is accused of a horrendous crime. In a case of life imitating art, Henry finds himself entangled in the same web of suspense he typically captures on screen as events force him to confront sinister truths about himself, his marriage, and the mysterious mustard stains on his bowtie.

An engrossing mystery with more heart-racing action than a track meet on Valentine’s Day, Joseph Goodrich’s Panic takes theatergoers for a whirlwind ride through 1960s Paris without ever leaving the historic 100-seat playhouse. When the lights go up for intermission, audiences can take the opportunity to catch their collective breath and indulge in the concessions available in the lobby.
