Winston-Salem Open
Even though the Winston-Salem Open is only four years old, it attracts some of the world’s top tennis players. All 38 players so far announced to compete in this year’s singles draw are ranked among the top 76 in the world. Top-ranked American John Isner will return to the court in hopes of claiming the Winston-Salem title for the third time in four years, though he’ll face stiff competition from the likes of defending champion Jurgen Melzer. Other players to watch include budding American talent Jack Sock, who has already reached the ATP’s top 60 at age 21. In addition to winning this year’s Wimbledon doubles, he also claimed the 2011 US Open Mixed Doubles championship, making him the youngest American in 15 years to claim two Grand Slam titles without having to re-string their racket with trampoline springs.
