Wizard World Comic Con Austin

A Wizard World Comic Con event is much more than a collision of comic-book universes and intergalactic heroes. It’s a celebration of pop culture in general—and one doesn’t even have to own a single comic-book issue to indulge in its buffet of celebrities, endless aisles of rare collectibles, and parades of cosplayers. Throughout the day, casual fans, hardcore fans, and people dressed as ceiling fans alike can meet and learn from superstars and fellow enthusiasts.

  • Expected Celebrity Guests: Robocop Peter Weller, Bruce Campbell of Evil Dead, “The Champ” Mike Tyson, Heisman Trophy winner Earl Campbell, Brent “Data” Spiner of Star Trek: TNG, Lucas “Havoc” Till of X-Men: First Class, Carroll “Big Bird” Spinney, True Blood’s Kristen Bauer, and Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario
  • Writers and Artists: Eisner Award–winning artists Gerhard (Cerebus) and Salvador Larroca (Avengers vs. X-Men), The Punisher illustrator Mike Zeck, and He-Man and She-Ra animator Tom Cook
  • Celebrity Vehicles: recreations of the Adam West–era Batmobile, the DeLorean from Back to the Future, and the Landspeeder X-34 from Star Wars
  • Official CosPlay Guests: Texas’s own Amouranth, who makes a perfect Frodo; Austin steampunk artisan and sideshow performer Eric Burton; San Antonio pin-up model and Batman-fanatic Lyndsey Elaine
  • Exhibitions: wall-to-wall displays of comic book art, movie posters, and toys that tempt collectors to finally open the packaging
