Throughout the stretch of a day, lovable blockhead Charlie Brown ponders his character and life in general, even after his cohorts warble the praising title song to him at the play’s opening. Struck by the enigmatic Little Red-Haired Girl, Charlie still can’t muster up the courage to approach her at lunch, leaving him feeling deflated and seeking the off-color psychiatric guidance of bossy know-it-all Lucy.
Despite Charlie’s misfortunes, a collection of whimsical tunes such as “The Book Report” and “Glee Club Rehearsal” uplift audience spirits, with the final song, “Happiness,” teaching him to appreciate the little things in life and accept himself.
