Comedy club continues 36-year tradition with upcoming month's roster of TV-tested humorists & rising comic stars
Without laughter, knock-knocks would only reveal door-to-door salesmen and the Tickle Monster would have to change his name to the “Socially Awkward Monster.” Revel in uninhibited laughs with this deal to see a comedy show at Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club at the Walper Hotel. For $18, you get two general-admission tickets to any regular show between May 1 and September 3 (up to a $36.60 value). Performances take place Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Since their Toronto location opened in 1976, Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club has been a collective launching pad for such comedy heavyweights as Jim Carrey, Rick Moranis, and Russell Peters. Yuk Yuk’s Kitchener stage makes way for an oncoming stampede of funny people, including sketch comedy aficionado Allyson Smith (May 18–19), who may discuss her rib-tickling takes on late night infomercials or the trends she’s noticed about other people named “Allyson.” The quick-witted Ian Sirota (May 25–26) takes a more improvisational approach to humour as he stretches one-word replies from the audience into hilarious tirades interspersed with self-deprecating stories and punchy one-liners. The Walper Hotel provides dining and bar service for Yuk Yuk’s events; those wishing to eat during the show should contact the hotel directly.
