Since their Toronto location opened in 1976, Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club has been a collective launching pad for such comedy heavyweights as Jim Carrey, Rick Moranis, and Russell Peters. Yuk Yuk’s London stage makes way for a stampede of funny people spearheaded by stand-up veterans and up-and-comers including Allyson Smith (May 4), whose self-deprecating charm and stories of gigs gone wrong have earned her a place on CTV’s Comedy Now!. Ron Vaudry (May 11) proudly carries on Yuk Yuk’s Canada-centric comedy mission by casting a jaundiced eye on his home country’s relationship with its noisy neighbour to the south. With eyes perpetually widened behind his goofy specs and beneath his trademark black ball cap, Darcy Michael (May 18) smashes stereotypes and ponders the essential paradox of a video game designed to make you exercise. Yuk Yuk’s opens their full bar and dinner menu one hour before show time and continues serving until the curtain drops or a prop comic breaks the last dish.
