A live version of the acclaimed Sundance TV series of the same name, Green Porno concerns itself, of course, with sex. But the solo performance of creator, writer, and star Isabella Rossellini is far from traditionally titillating. In a manner both surreal and biologically accurate, she reveals the mating and reproductive behaviors of animals found throughout nature, be it land, sea, or air. The balance of fact—yes, dolphins’ blowholes are used just as you’d suspect—with larger-than-life costumes and unexpected props suggests a science lecture by way of children’s theater.
The overall effect, according to the New York Times, is equal parts fun and thought-provoking: “There are messages to be discerned amid her inventory of comic couplings. Most obvious is that although nature includes plenty of heterosexuality, that is only one of a wide variety of ways that animals pair up, reproduce and raise young. Nature, it turns out, has been doing the ‘Modern Family’ thing all along.”

About Zeiterion Theatre
Past rows of seats covered in crimson, past a red carpet that brings out the auditorium's regality, past a centerpiece chandelier that dangles from the ceiling with the quiet grace of a toddler climbing out of her crib, is a stage. Upon this stage, the Zeiterion Theatre explores the performing arts, hosting national and international performers who enlighten the community to other cultures and inspire the younger population to actively participate in the arts. Every year, Zeiterion, lovingly known as "The Z," also provides 5,000 free tickets to children and families with low incomes, working to make arts more accessible to all.
