About Glen Echo Park Aquarium
As one of the nation's largest estuaries—a river- and creek-bred body of water that flows into the sea—the Chesapeake Bay is home to more than 3,600 species of plants and animals. Glen Echo Park Aquarium, a child-oriented discovery center, is on a mission to promote awareness and conservation of the Bay's native fauna. Within their interactive exhibit hall, visitors admire freshwater fishes and bay-basking critters in tanks; staff host touch tank sessions and other interactive activities during which children can see, touch, and learn more about the marine life. Outside the center, kids play in a sandpit or explore the onsite (and in-tree) pirate ship.
