Horses were once considered man’s best friend, but after the invention of the dog, the horse was rebranded as man’s eccentric, oat-obsessed uncle. Take a journey with the kindest of kinsmen with today's Groupon: for $30, you get two half-hour horseback-riding lessons at Glendale Stables, LLC (a $60 value).
The seasoned instructors at Glendale Stables facilitate equine mastery for steed handlers of any experience level, ages 4 and up. After signing a waiver, equestrians will review basic riding tips before mounting their hoofed comrades and cantering, trotting, or clogging about the beautiful, tree-flanked Glendale facilities, which include full-size indoor and outdoor riding rings open year-round.
During the half-hour lessons, available all day Monday–Saturday, parents and friends can watch their foal's form or examine the undercarriage of passing 747s from the comfort of the air-conditioned viewing lounge.
Riders should come dressed for the occasion in long pants and closed-toe shoes to avoid inciting the ire of the horses that have been banned from wearing shorts. Helmets are also required, and can be provided if needed.
