In 2015, Provence, France arrived in the West Village. Its arrival: courtesy of Christophe Garnier and Constance Hudault, the owners of French bistro Gloo. Garnier, a chef, tapped into his 18 years of restaurant work in Provence to establish a touch of home in New York as well as introduce locals to French wine and bistro cuisine.
Inside the kitchen, he whips up mouthwatering offerings such as Gravlax organic salmon with candied fennel and 7-hour cooked lamb shoulder flanked by olive oil mashed potatoes and hearty ratatouille. Once perfected, he sends them into the effortlessly luxurious space designed by Pascale Palun. Here, diners lounge in leather armchairs or sip glasses of organic Cotes du Rhone while gazing out the window onto the bustling streets.
