Every great artist has had a posse: Manet had the Impressionists, Picasso had Gertrude Stein’s salon, and the Beastie Boys had three MCs and one DJ. Meet like-minded art pals with today’s Groupon: for $15, you get any class at G'nosh, located in Frisco or Richardson. Each class can cost from $25 to $40, depending on the day of the week.
At G'nosh, adults switch on their right brains and pick up brushes and pencils to let their creativity flow wildly onto the canvas, spilling onto the floor where anyone may slip on it and create a masterpiece. The classes are not mind-numbing paint-by-numbers sessions wherein each artist attempts to paint an identical picture of an alpaca riding a motorcycle; they have themes and friendly teachers waiting to disperse guidance and inspiration. Smear kaleidoscopic colors onto a canvas of bicycle wheels in the “Bikes Fly By” class ($35), let peacock feathers float across an entire frame in the “Golden Peacock” class ($35), or class up area frat houses with splashy booze glasses in a “Rustic Martini Abstract” course ($25). Past sessions have included fine-art-oriented work such as “Van Gogh–Inspired ‘Blue Irises’” ($40) where painters were able to imitate or recreate Van Gogh’s impressionistic paint globs without biting their easel partner’s ears.
Because G’nosh is designed to be a place where adults can go to relax and unwind, its space is beautifully and comfortably appointed with plenty of friendly faces. Click here to see a gallery of past student work, and check the calendar for upcoming class themes and times.
