Formed hot on the heels of Y2K in Los Angeles, California, American rockers Say Anything’s self-released EPs generated the kind of music industry buzz that initiates a major-label bidding war. With hit songs like “Alive With the Glory of Love” and “Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too,” Say Anything’s sound is a sonic spin cycle of math-rock, indie-pop-punk and alt-rock … with a dash of theatrical pomp. Last year’s self-produced Hebrews, inspired by frontman Max Bemis’ Jewish lineage, introduced another side to their sound, featuring no guitars whatsoever and replacing six-string-driven riffs with orchestral arrangements. Now, Say Anything comes to San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom to deliver loud interpretations of their songs, both old and new, featuring a string quartet and guitars. This concert also features special guests Modern Baseball, Cymbals Eat Guitars and Hard Girls.
