What You'll Get
In 1993, Digable Planets dropped their debut album, Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space), and left fans of backpack rap reeling. The trio of Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler and former Howard students Mary Ann "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving sampled heavily from Art Blakey for their inescapable hit "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)," turning hip-hop heads on to hidden jazz tracks. One Grammy and a second jazz-infused album later and Digable Planets had rap lovers digging in crates for albums by the likes of Herbie Hancock, Roy Ayers and The Last Poets. Now you can see all three "creamy spies" together again in concert at San Francisco's 1015 Folsom. The tickets identified in this promotion are made available through Goldstar.
