What You'll Get
A woman who left rural Mississippi 30 years ago and has barely looked back since returns to introduce her daughter and newborn grandchild to the family homestead in the world-premiere play The Rooting Place. But she doesn't receive the warmest of welcomes, as her visit threatens to dig up long-buried secrets between the four generations of mothers now gathered there. Atlanta resident Betty Chaney wrote the tragicomedy, which comes to the stage at the Hapeville Performing Arts Center courtesy of the Academy Theatre.
This production is recommended for those ages 16 and older.
