Composer George Lewis's Afterword transcends the conventional operatic experience into an experimental event, complete with fully staged performances of pre-structured music, text and scenography. A rarely performed piece, the opera's singers will be prompted to take the stage as they act, move and take on multiple roles right in front of the audience members. A longtime member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, Lewis is considered a pioneer of computer music, notable for his creation of the performer-based software Voyager. The Columbia University music professor has had work performed by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonia Orchestra, Talea Ensemble, Ensemble Pamplemousse, Wet Ink, Ensemble Erik Satie and countless others.
