What You'll Get
Austin-based roots artist Carrie Rodriguez pays tribute to her great aunt Eva Garza, a Chicana singing sensation in the '40s, with her latest disc, a bilingual Spanish-English album of ranchera-inspired originals and Mexican favorites. Lola is the follow-up to 2013's acclaimed Give Me All You Got, which hit No. 1 on the Americana Radio chart and propelled the Boston Globe to praise Rodriguez's "fine singing and scintillating fiddle work." Along with her aunt, Rodriguez's musical family includes her folk-musician father David, with whom she toured with as a teenager before going on to study violin at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. She's also toured, recorded and co-written songs with Chip Taylor ("Wild Thing"), Lucinda Williams, Los Lonely Boys, John Prine and many more. Come check out her latest sound at The Alberta Rose in Portland.
