A young New York couple arrives in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to see the famous Civil War sites, and ends up battling to keep their relationship alive in John, the latest drama by Pulitzer Prize-winner Annie Baker (The Flick, Circle Mirror Transformation). Welcomed by the cheerfully odd proprietor of a tchotchke-filled bed-and-breakfast, the duo encounters a number of eerie occurrences, as questions of secrets and spirituality, love and solitude and life and death enter the atmosphere. This off-Broadway success comes to Philadelphia's Arden Theatre after scoring a spot on Time Magazine's Top Ten Plays for 2015 and receiving a pair of 2016 Obie Awards.
