It’s an evening of star-crossed love when conductor Marin Alsop joins the Seattle Symphony for a fully orchestral program featuring works all inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet: Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, with its pop-culture prevalent love theme, Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story (his jaunty take on the tragic tale is set in 1950s-era New York City), and Prokofiev’s Suite from Romeo and Juliet, a ballet that originally clocked in at well over two hours long.
