What You'll Get

The explosively theatrical dancers of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater have been creating groundbreaking work for more than 50 years. Founder Alvin Ailey drew upon his "blood memories" of Texas, the blues and spirituals to help popularize modern dance through masterpieces like Revelations, which continues to thrill AAADT's audiences. Under current artistic director Robert Battle, this "cultural ambassador to the world" is as vibrant as ever, putting the company's iconic stamp on pieces by other favorite choreographers in addition to debuting works from the hottest young artists. The company comes to Zellerbach Hall with series of performances that includes works by Billy Wilson, Mauro Bigonzetti, Johan Inger, Rennie Harris, Hope Boykin and much more. Please see the description for each evening's program.
