What You'll Get
Set in the White House shortly after the assassination of our nation's 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, How Soft the Lining sheds light on the lives of Mary Todd Lincoln and her freed black seamstress, Elizabeth Keckly. Etching away the stigma so often associated with Mrs. Lincoln, this powerful play explores the friendship between the two women, forged in the wake of events that brought them together during such a pivotal point in our nation's history. Written by Kristen Greenidge, the playwright responsible for Milk Like Sugar and The Luck of the Irish, How Soft the Lining can be seen at Boston's Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts.
