What You'll Get
Two of contemporary culture's most respected artists -- cabaret chanteuse Ute Lemper and author Paulo Coelho (The Alchemist) -- collaborated on this exciting new song cycle, which transforms Coelho's novel Manuscript Found in Accra into a singular aural and visual entertainment experience at New York's Symphony Space. Surrounded by stunning imagery by Oscar-winning filmmaker Volker Schloendorff (The Tin Drum), Lemper's joined onstage by six musicians from six different Middle Eastern and Western countries, playing a variety of instruments from across the globe. The Grammy-nominated actress and singer first gained fame in her native Europe with her interpretations of Kurt Weill's catalog before conquering New York and the rest of the world with her wide-ranging talents, and this latest work promises to push her performance boundaries even further.
