A seven-time Grammy winner -- and a classical-music superstar who's appeared with the New York Philharmonic more than 100 times -- pianist Emanuel Ax is back with a very special world premiere of a concerto commissioned especially for him, written by contemporary Austrian composer HK Gruber. Famed for his collaborations with longtime friend Yo-Yo Ma, the pianist's legions of fans, known as "Manny Ax's Maniax," would no doubt agree with the Washington Post's assessment of his playing as "always thoughtful, lyrical, lustrous." Music Director Alan Gilbert also leads the orchestra in Weill's Little Threepenny Music for Wind Orchestra and Schubert's Symphony No. 2.The tickets identified in this promotion are made available through Goldstar.
