The woman card gets played hard at this joyful salute to female mariachis at the Ford Amphitheatre. Three of the world's greatest all-girl bands -- Guadalajara's Mariachi Femenil Nuevo Tecalitlán, New York City's Flor de Toloache and L.A.'s own Las Colibri -- come together for a tribute to late mariachi pionera Laura Garciacano-Sobrino. Las Colibri ("The Hummingbirds") take a more contemporary approach to ranchera music -- aside from their unique interpretation of traditional sones and huapangos, you'll also recognize the modern influence of jazz, rock, oldies and R&B through their innovative arrangements. Named after the magical Toloache flower that's been used in Mexico for centuries as the main ingredient in a legendary love potion, the Mariachi Flor de Toloache have been bringing their spellbinding show to top stages across Mexico, Spain and the U.S. since forming in 2008. The infectious melodies, tight harmonies and stellar musicianship of these three bands are sure to shine under the stars at this special concert event, where you can expect to see special-guest dancers and young performers as well.
