What You'll Get
Two of L.A.'s most famed world-music ensembles take the stage together at the Ford Amphitheatre for a pulse-pounding, soul-filled night of music under the stars, called Concrete Saplings. Led by dynamic front woman Martha Gonzalez, the Grammy-winning band Quetzal is famed for their multi-ethnic melding of Mexican and Afro-Cuban rhythms, dubbing it Chicano rock, while Taikoproject has been drumming their way onto stages around the globe after becoming the first American group to win the prestigious Tokyo International Taiko Contest in '05. Since then, they've appeared on the Oscar and Grammy Award show broadcasts, as well as The Voice, Conan and Jimmy Kimmel Live. This latest collaboration blends Taikoproject's traditional Japanese percussion-based movement and rhythm with Quetzal's melodic son jarocho to create an entirely new and exciting SoCal sound.
The Ford is an outdoor venue and can get cold at night. Please plan accordingly. Additionally, it is a county park, so parking lots and the venue in general are located in hilly terrain. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
You are welcome to bring food and drink (beer and wine only) and picnic on our plaza or in your seats. Picnic tables are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please visit the Ford Amphitheatre websites for more info on directions, theater policies, parking and special services and food and dining.
