The Music Circle celebrates the 100th birth anniversary of the "Nightingale of Indian Music," MS Subbalakshmi with this outdoor concert at Ford Amphitheatre. Uniting north and south, North Indian santoor artist Pundit Tarun Bhattacharya and will perform with South Indian violinist Aishu Venkataraman. The duet, called a jugalbandi, represents two musicians performing different instruments and styles, and coming together as one. The concert will also pay tribute to Music Circle founders Ravi Shankar and Harihar Rao with music from percussionists Guru Vinod Venkataraman, Vidwan Abhijit Bannerjee, Ravi Balasubramaniam and Kajajeyan Pararasasegaram, and a and dance piece featuring Sanchita Battacharya. Bring a picnic to share with your family and friends and enjoy a night out in L.A.
The Ford is an outdoor venue and can get cold at night. Please plan accordingly. Additionally, it is a County park, so parking lots and the venue in general are located in hilly terrain. Comfortable shoes are recommended. You are welcome to bring food and drink (beer and wine only) and picnic on the plaza or in your seats. Picnic tables are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
