What You'll Get
Iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo lived as she painted. The Long Beach Opera's Frida is a musical celebration of Kahlo's vivacious spirit, sexuality, fragility and her tumultuous life with muralist Diego Rivera. The opera captures her life with music as rich and haunting as her art. As you take in this summer night under the stars, you'll see Kahlo's tortured life unfold in a flowing succession of scenes, acted and sung by three women and three men in a variety of guises -- masked, plain-faced and even as puppets. This Southern California premiere features Puerto Rican mezzo-soprano Laura Virella, singing in both Spanish and English at Long Beach's Museum of Latin American Art. Ticket holders also have exclusive access to the museum's exhibit "Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray."
