What You'll Get
Combining pinpoint technique with acting, historical movement styles and even pantomime, Gelsey Kirkland Ballet eschews abstraction to find the stories in dance, making the form relatable and powerful. They'll do it three times in one show at Mischief, Mischief & More Mischief, a triple-bill of ballets including two by the great choreographer George Balanchine: his sweet, waltzy riff on the legend of Faust, Walpurgis Night; and his rascally, commedia dell'arte inspired confection Harlequinade. Russian choreographer Leonid Yakobson's ode to Jewish matrimony, The Wedding Procession, rounds out this exciting lineup of dance at GK ArtsCenter in Brooklyn.
