What You'll Get
Already a hit on the Billboard classical album charts, Mozart in Havana -- the exciting collaboration between pianist Simone Dinnerstein and the Havana Lyceum Chamber Orchestra -- hits the stage at GMU's Harris Theatre in Fairfax as part of an inaugural U.S. tour. Dinnerstein, a New York concert pianist who's known for her rave-reviewed and best-selling recordings of Bach, was performing at a 2015 music festival in Cuba when she was introduced to and inspired by this talented ensemble, made up of young conservatory students, recent graduates and their teachers, including music director José Antonio Méndez Padrón. Their new album and groundbreaking series of concerts is the result, and this performance is set to feature a pair of Mozart's piano concertos, along with Copland's Appalachian Spring.
Program (subject to change):
