It's definitely not her definition of a fairy-tale romance -- a young woman in pre-Revolutionary Paris is about to be married off to a duke to forgive her father's debts. So she escapes into the warm embrace of her late mother's friends, a group of aristocratic women who run a chic literary salon that conceals their radical views with re-invented folk stories. Everyone has their part to play, from the fairy godmother and Prince Charming to the cruel stepmother and the beast. But is the maid just a maid, or is she the hero of a story no one realizes they're acting out?
