What You'll Get

The talented vocal ensemble known as Music of the Baroque, directed by acclaimed British conductor Jane Glover and dubbed "one of Chicago's musical glories" by Opera News magazine, performs Handel's Alexander's Feast, or "The Pow'r of Musick" at Chicago's Harris Theater. Successful from the time of its premiere in 1736, this powerful oratorio relates the tale of a humble musician, whose performance at a banquet thrown by Alexander the Great and his mistress Thais elicits such emotion in the king that he's driven to burn down the captured Persian city of Persepolis in revenge for his fallen soldiers.
