What You'll Get
New Shoes 8 is the latest installment in an ongoing series of new and in-development dance works by emerging and established choreographers, directors and ensembles. This eclectic night of dance at Santa Monica's Highways Performance Space features Yasmine Lindskog's "No evil," a whimsical twist on the Japanese proverb depicting the three wise monkeys, a duet by Emily Meister + Liz Bustle, and Yanina Orellana's "We are all sons of Chingada," which explores the sexualized female body in Mexican popular culture. Finally, by using movement in tandem with paint, Alyssandra Katherine Dance Project's "Traces" seeks to make the impalpable concrete by leaving visible marks in the spaces a physical body has been and the people it has touched.
