What You'll Get
Come to George Washington University to hear some of the country's brightest minds participate in a formal debate on provocative propositions that go way beyond televised soundbites. Organized by Intelligence Squared, a nonpartisan, nonprofit group that aims to restore civil discussion and balanced analysis to public discourse, Gerrymandering Is Destroying the Political Center looks at the practice of gerrymandering -- manipulating the boundaries of election districts so as to favor a political majority -- and its effect on democracy. Is gerrymandering responsible for the increasing partisanship in American society? Or does the blame for destroying the political center lie with increasingly loaded and emotional TV and radio outlets, the Internet or campaign finance? Learn about these and other pertinent issues when Republican strategist Chris Jankowski and Princeton political professor Nolan McCarty square off against Caroline Fredrickson, author and President of the American Constitution Society, and author and publisher David Daley, at Jack Morton Auditorium in Washington DC. There will be a chance for the audience to vote, and this event will be recorded for later broadcast on radio, podcasts and television. The tickets identified in this promotion are made available through Goldstar.
