What You'll Get

Lifelong activist Cleve Jones conceived the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt in 1985 and it's since become the world's largest piece of community folk art. Jones also co-founded the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, which has grown into one of the largest and most influential People with AIDS advocacy organizations in the U.S. Hear him discuss his new memoir When We Rise, which details the nearly four decades that he's spent at the center of the movement to give voice to people who, for much of human history, have been made invisible. Jones' appearance at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco's Kanbar Hall is timed to the forthcoming debut of the ABC miniseries When We Rise, which was created by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black and Executive Producer Gus Van Sant and features actor Guy Pearce portraying Jones.
