After the sudden death of his dear friend and fellow artist Viktor Hartmann, Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky visited an extensive art show organized in his remembrance, and was inspired to compose Pictures at an Exhibition. An imaginary walk around an art show, this ten-movement composition offers ten different vibes for ten different scenes. As part of the What Makes it Great? celebrity series at Jordan Hall at New England Conservatory, Rob Kapilow and NEC Philharmonia dissect and examine Ravel's arrangement of this great work, accompanied by projections of many of the original Hartmann images which inspired the work. The tickets identified in this promotion are made available through Goldstar.
