What You'll Get
The Creative Traditional Orchestra of Korea's National Gugak Center opens its two-concert residency at Cal Performances' Zellerbach Hall with an afternoon of world-premiere contemporary pieces, followed by an evening of traditional court and folk music. The 55-member ensemble is equally virtuosic in both forms, and is set to debut new works by Berkeley music professor Edmund Campion, Shih-Hui Chen of Rice University, George Lewis of Columbia University, David Evan Jones and Hi Kyung Kim of UC Santa Cruz, Chinary Ung of UC San Diego and Korean composer Geon Yong Lee. Later they'll impress with folk pieces from a number of different regions in a variety of styles, and awe and amaze with ancient ceremonial music once heard in the country's royal court. The tickets identified in this promotion are made available through Goldstar.
