What You'll Get
We live in troubled times, and yet Sophocles' masterpiece Antigone shows that tyrannical power, civil disobedience and political protest are ancient themes. When a new king comes to power in a city devastated by civil war, he demands that the body of a rebel attacker, who also happens to be his nephew, be left to rot in the streets. But the dead soldier's outraged sister, consumed with grief, is determined to defy her uncle, and give her brother proper burial rites. Watch these two monumental wills collide in LES Shakespeare Co.'s movement- and music-filled production at Paradise Factory. Head to nearby Central Bar NYC following the performance, where your Antigone ticket is good for a complimentary drink.
