What You'll Get
Warm weather, a shady park and a free concert make for the perfect Sunday outing. The Los Angeles Youth Orchestra (LAYO), conducted by Russell Steinberg, will perform a free concert for the community in Encino Park. This concert will be a sneak preview of the orchestra's upcoming international tour to Italy, where they will collaborate with Italian music students. See these talented youths play the music that will soon entertain audiences in Cremona (home of the famous Stradivarius violins), Montecatini and Rome, including Rossini's "Barber of Seville Overture," Beethoven's "Coriolan Overture," Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony No. 8, Mozart's Symphony No. 32 and Artistic Director Russell Steinberg's own composition, "Alternative Energy." Previously, LAYO toured internationally to Vienna and Prague in 2015, Carnegie Hall in 2013 and have performed locally at Zipper Hall at the Colburn School, Walt Disney Concert Hall, UCLA Schoenberg Hall and Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena.
This is a family friendly event, and concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets and/or low chairs.
