What You'll Get
South African and Russian traditions collide in an innovative retelling of Firebird. The North American premiere of the multidisciplinary interpretation of Igor Stravinsky's orchestral score for the 1910 ballet is performed by The Philadelphia Orchestra. Grammy Award-winning, South African vocal ensemble Ladysmith Black Mambazo tells the magical story of a daring prince, a captured princess, a glowing bird and a wicked sorcerer. This performance also features contemporary South African dance, along with puppeteer Janni Younge's larger-than-life imaginings, inspired by the Broadway sensation War Horse. Experience Firebird: Reimagined at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts.
