What You'll Get
Inspired by Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, Lauren Gunderson's The Taming finds two political opposites together in a strange hotel room with a beauty queen running the show. Other than the name, though, Shakespeare has little to do with this smart, funny and sexy political farce -- the perfect antidote to this surreal election season. It takes place in 2016, and the "shrew" that needs taming is the U.S. Congress. Along with some comic history thrown in, it's a plea for civic sanity. Super-patriot Miss Georgia takes it upon herself to lock herself in a hotel room with two captive political opposites in an effort to jump-start a rewriting of the Constitution. This rollicking comedy will tickle both your brain and your funny bone from amidst the trees of the Forest Meadows Amphitheatre in San Rafael.
Running time is approximately one hour and 45 minutes.
This show is recommended for ages 12 and up. There are some sexual references.
