Experience one of the world's most renowned chamber ensembles performing on two of the world's most historic sets of instruments -- one by Antonio Stradivari and the other by his teacher Nicolo Amati -- when the Axelrod String Quartet returns to the Hall of Music in DC's American History Museum for its annual series of concerts. The Axelrod's 2016-17 season coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society, which allows the museum's collection of fine musical instruments to come out and be played. Each program is preceded by an engaging talk by Kenneth Slowik on the evening's featured composer.
Program, location and artists are subject to change.
