What You'll Get
The musical story of 27 takes you inside Gertrude Stein's Paris salon at 27 Rue de Fleurus, with such legendary guests as Picasso, Hemingway, Matisse and Fitzgerald. At the height of art and salons in Paris, the scintillating exploration of Stein's romantic relationship with avant-garde author Alice B. Toklas probes into love, life and the struggle of an artist during World Wars I and II. Featuring Metropolitan Opera star Stephanie Blythe as Stein, the 150 singers of MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale) and Orchestra of St. Luke's, this powerhouse musical performance will resound through the hall of New York City Center as it takes you back in time to Paris in the first half of the 20th century. Ricky Ian Gordon composed the music for 27, which makes its New York premiere in this semi-staged production, complete with costumes, dramatic lighting and sets. MasterVoices Artistic Director Ted Sperling conducts, while James Robinson directs. The tickets identified in this promotion are made available through Goldstar.
