What You'll Get
This year's Oregon Music Festival spotlights composer Robert Schumann, who makes an appearance in From Schumann With Love. Beaverton Symphony Orchestra begins the night with the overture to Mozart's La clemenza di Tito, an opera written by the composer in just 18 days in honor of King Leopold II's coronation as King of Bohemia. Next comes Schumann's Piano Concerto, which started out as a fantasy for piano and orchestra, until Schumann broadened it into a full concerto at his wife's suggestion. Starting out dignified and lush, the piece spins out into pure joy. The orchestra ends the evening with Haydn's Symphony No. 103, created by the composer during one of the happiest times of his life. Hwakyu Julia Lee is the featured piano soloist at this concert at First Baptist Church.
